Gold prices surpassed all previous records, as they spurted 170 rupees, to 23,220 rupees per ten grams at Delhi's bullion market, on Thursday, driven by a firm trend in the international markets. Gold's previous peak was 23,175 rupees per ten grams, set on April 30 this year. Silver zoomed 2,300 rupees, to 57,300 rupees per kilo, on heavy buying by stockists and speculators.In the international markets, gold climbed 0.7 per cent, to a record 1,593 dollars an ounce. Gold rose after hints of further policy easing by the US central bank, and credit rating agency, Moody's warning that the United States may lose its top-notch credit rating sparked-off buying of the safe-haven asset.
