Domestic equity indices today plunged more than one per cent in afternoon trade.

Benchmark stocks logged losses amid Brent crude prices surge to 69 dollars per barrel and negative cues from global markets.

Sensex at Bombay Stock Exchange declined 485 points to trade at 36,638. Nifty at National Stock Exchange also tumbled 138 points to 10,870.  

The rupee at forex market weakened 20 paise to 71 rupees and 79 paise against the US dollar in afternoon deals.
