In Uttar Pradesh, health services in many parts of the state remained severely affected on the third day today after doctors from various medical colleges joined with the striking junior doctors in Kanpur.
At least 13 patients have reportedly succumbed in Kanpur alone as medical aid was not available due to the agitation. Demanding release of arrested doctors in Kanpur and action against Kanpur Senior Superintendent of Police Yashaswi Yadav, junior doctors at King George Medical University Lucknow, Gorakhpur Medical College, S.N. Medical College Agra and at many other places joined the protest.
Talking to AIR, Indian Medical Association, Kanpur chapter president Dr Arti Lalchandani said that the medical teachers have already tendered resignation and no medical services will be restored unless the alleged attackers are arrested.
AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that Kanpur District Magistrate Roshan Jacob has ordered a magisterial probe into Friday's incident.
