In Bihar, health services in government hospitals have been paralysed following the strike by Doctors. The Doctors on Tuesday went on strike in protest against the killing of a Doctor by the inmates in Gopalganj jail. AIR Patna correspondent reports an emergency meeting of doctors have decided to boycott all government work for 24 hours from 6 am on Tuesday. State Health Minister Ashwani Kumar Choubey has appealed to the doctors not to resort to strike in public interest. Mr. Choubey also reiterated that the government would certainly bring the Medical Professionals Protection Bill in the Monsoon Session of the State Assembly. Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged against seven inmates of the Gopalganj Jail. State Home Secretary Amir Subhani told AIR that speedy trial would be conducted against the inmates booked for causing the ghasty incidents. Besides, action would also be taken against the jail officials concered for the failing to provide security to the deceased Doctor. Home Secretary said that he would submit his detailed report on the incident to the Chief Minister. AIR correspondent reports, that the state unit of Indian Medical Association has given seven days ultimatum to meet its demands including immediate introduction of legislation to protect medical professionals of the state and compensation of 2 crore rupees to the dependent of the deceased doctor Bhudev Singh. The IMA also demanded speedy trial of the accused inmates and full pension of Dr. Singh to his family members.
