A Delhi court on Friday ordered arrest of DMK MP Kanimozhi and Kalaignar TV MD Sharad Kumar after rejecting their bail pleas in the 2G spectrum case. Special CBI Judge O P Saini said the bail applications are dismissed. Both the accused have been taken into custody immediately. The court directed that 43-year-old Kanimozhi and Kumar should be produced before it at 10 am on Saturday, when the case comes up for hearing.Her family members and DMK leaders, including its parliamentary party chief T R Baalu were present in the court.In Chennai, top DMK leaders went into a huddle at the residence of party chief M Karunanidhi in the wake of a Delhi Court order. In his first reaction to the news of the arrest of his daughter, Karunanidhi said they will consult legal experts and decide the next course of action. He said he is not going to Delhi as planned earlier. He said he in the same state of mind as others, if any one of their relative is arrested.Congress says, the arrest of Kanimozhi, daughter of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's will have no impact on its alliance with the DMK. Briefing reporters in New Delhi on Friday, Party Spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi that the alliance will remain unaffected. Singhvi refused to make any comments on Kanimozhi's arrest.Both Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar have been charge sheeted by CBI for allegedly conspiring with former Telecom minister Raja, the key accused in the case. The court had earlier, reserved its order on their bail pleas for May 14, and subsequently postponed it till today. Kanimozhi has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act for taking bribe through Kalaignar TV, a channel run by DMK in which a sum of 200 crore rupees was routed from Shahid Usman Balwa's firm DB Realty. Kanimozhi and Kumar hold 20 per cent stakes each in Kalaignar TV while former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi's wife Dayalu Ammal holds 60 per cent share in it.
