DMK MLA J Anbazhagan dies in Tamil Nadu due to Covid-19

In Tamil Nadu, DMK MLA J.Anbazhagan died of Covid-19 disease today morning. He was 62 and breathed his last on his birthday at a private hospital in Chennai. Several leaders have expressed condolences over his demise.<br />''<span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu, the total number of Covid-19 affected people has surged to 36,841 with a record 1927 people confirmed with the infection today. The number of active cases in the state is 17,179 as 1008 people have returned home from hospitals after recovery. AIR correspondent reports that  </span>the state health department is further reinforcing the strength of the doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff in view of the growing Covid-19 burden. It is deploying 574 fresh postgraduate doctors on contract basis with the monthly remuneration of 75-thousand rupees. <br />''<br />''In addition, 665 doctors will be put on duty on a consolidated pay of 60-thousand rupees a month. 365 lab technicians and 1230 multipurpose health workers would also be engaged on consolidated pay to treat the Covid-19 patients in the state, as announced by the government. A government release says they will be recruited for a limited duration of three months. The move is expected to reduce the workload of most doctors in Chennai who work relentlessly against the onslaught of the virus. <br />
