AN agreement between the DMK and Congress was signed between the DMK Chief Mr.Karunanidhi and the TNCC President Mr.K.V.Thangkabaalu in Chennai today. The Congress had been allotted 63 constituencies by the DMK its prime ally in the State. Interestingly, five constituencies in the city of Chennai have been passed over to the Congress Party this time. According to the agreement out of the 63 constituencies allotted to them twelve will be reserved . The other constituencies of DMK allies are expected to be announced tonight. DMK which is contesting in 120 seats will be announcing the constituencies and candidates tomorrow. The DMK front has shared 63 to congress, 30 to PMK, ten to Viduthalai Chiruthaigal, seven to kongu naadu munnetra kazhagam, two to IUML and one each to Moovendar munnetra Kazhagam and perunthalaivar munntra kazhagam. During the 2006 assembly elections, the congress had contested in 48 seats and had won 34 of them. The long time ally of the AIADMK front, the MDMK, could not reach a seat sharing pact till now. The MDMK led by Mr.Vaiko has convened a meeting on the 19th to decide on the future course of action. The new partner of the front, the dmdk had been offered 41 seats, Left parties the cpi and cpm have been offered 10 and 12 seats,manitha neya makkal katchi has been given three. The puthiya Tamizhagam party and All India Samathuva makkal katchi led by Actor sarath kumar has been offered two each,other minor allies of the front Republican party of india, All India Forward Block, Kongu makkal ilaignar peravai, all india moovendar munnetra Kazhagam all have been offered one each.
