DK Mittal calls upon exporters to desist from devaluing domestic currency

Secretary Banking and Financial Services, DK Mittal has called upon exporters to desist from devaluing domestic currency by trading in foreign currency. Mr Mittal said in New Delhi that the practice creates problems for the government. Talking to newspersons on the sidelines of a function in New Delhi today, he said the exporters should focus on exporting goods and services rather than worrying about the fluctuations in the rupee. Commenting on the issue of HSBC bank's India staff coming under the scanner into a US probe on money laundering, Mr. Mittal said the Reserve Bank of India is looking into it. He said the government is willing to assist the central bank in this issue.
