Diwali is being celebrated in different parts of the country today with traditional fervour and gaiety. People have decorated their houses with fancy lights and are preparing to worship Goddess of wealth Lakshmi. President, Vice President and Prime Minister have greeted the people on the occasion. <br/>National capital Delhi has been decked up like a bride on the occasion of the festival. Lights, lamps, fireworks, music, food, decorations with garlands of marigold-like flowers are visible everywhere in the city. People are exchanging gifts and sweets and wishes and greetings are being sent more through social media.<br/><br/>The meteorological department has cautioned that pollution level during Diwali night is expected to be severe due to bursting of firecrackers and advised those persons with heart and lung diseases to stay indoors. According to an agency of Ministry of Earth Sciences November 12 and 13 is expected to witness dense haze formation. It said, older persons and children should avoid all physical activity outdoors as there is a serious risk respiratory effects in general public in prolonged exposure.<br/>The Prime Minister celebrated Diwali with soldiers in Amritsar. He paid floral tributes at the Dograi War memorial which was set up in the memory of those soldiers who laid their lives in 1965 in the war of Dograi (which is a village in Pakistan). Mr Modi spent some time with the families of soldiers and greeted them.
