Disruption continues in Rajya Sabha over Lalit Modi issue

The Lalit Modi controversy continues to figure in the Rajya Sabha for the third week, forcing Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien Rajya to adjourn the House till noon today. The House witnessed uproarious scenes when Naresh Agarwal of the Samajwadi Party raised the issue of a letter reportedly written by 30 BJP members to the Rajya Sabha Chairman demanding action against Opposition members for disrupting the proceedings.<br/><br/>Some of opposition members including D Raja of the CPI took strong exception and alleged that the ruling BJP is trying to pressurise the Chair. Meanwhile, agitating Congress members trooped into the well shouting slogans against the Modi government. Amid noisy scenes, Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien allowed papers to be laid.<br/><br/>Despite repeated appeals from the Chair to maintain order in the House, the opposition members were unrelenting. As the din continued, Prof. Kurien adjourned the House till Noon.
