Dispose off radioactive material properly: Delhi Govt.

Delhi Government today directed all medical establishments in the city to dispose off radioactive material strictly as per rules and regulations framed by Atomic Energy Regulatory Board.<br/><br/>Health Minister Kiran Walia said the directive has been issued to heads of all hospitals, diagnostic centres, medical laboratories after a radioactive material sold as scrap by Delhi University led to the death of a labourer and hospitalisation of ten others.<br/><br/>Terming the incident of radioactive exposure at the Mayapuri scrap market as a "very serious" issue, she said all hospitals and health centres who uses radioactive material for various reasons will have to follow the stringent procedures in disposing them off.<br/>
