Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has assured the military that any discrepancy in rank structure of its officers with those in civil administration will be resolved soon.<br/><br/>The assurance of the Minister came after a Defence ministry letter downgraded the status of soldiers. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in New Delhi yesterday, Mr Parrikar said, military officers will be on same platform as their civilian counterparts. <br/><br/>He said, he will personally look into the matter and resolve the issue. The Minister said, he will also take a look at all previous orders to see if there was any discrepancy. He said, government is sensitive to the issues related to the armed forces. <br/><br/>Mr Parrikar said, some people are trying to misguide as the issue related to only functional responsibility and not status vis-a-vis their civilian counterparts.
