India achieved a milestone in the mass transport system with the inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the priority section of the Regional Rapid Transit System, RRTS Corridor in Uttar Pradesh. The PM also flagged off the first RapidX or Namo Bharat train connecting Sahibabad to Duhai Depot.
”
”in Akashvani’s program Spotlight, while discussing on the significance of this development, Senior Journalist, Mr Deepak Kumar Dash said, it is the beginning of a new thing entirely for the urban transportation system because people can travel from Delhi to Meerut in less than an hour, cover more than 80 kilometre in less than an hour. It will help in decongesting cities like Delhi which is now under huge pressure of urbanisation.
”
”The RRTS project which will cover the NCR comprising Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, is spread over an estimated 55,000 square kms and is home to a population of over 46 crore with a combined GDP of an estimated $370 billion.
”
”RRTS is like a very advanced version of Delhi Metro. Similar train, dedicated corridor, mostly elevated, then some parts will be obviously underground. So, what we have learned from Delhi Metro, the requirement of new age travellers, new requirements. So, those have all been kept in mind while designing this entire train. Like when Delhi Metro started, there was no dedicated coach or reserved coach for females but now it's there. So, the new train because the RRTS is going to cater to a different kind of people altogether who will be travelling long distances.
”
”And another important aspect of the Namo trains is that these are indigenously manufactured. So, in a way, it also gives a push to the government's initiative of Make in India.
” Senior Journalist Deepak Kumar Dash said, this is not the first train, this is also a Made in India train. Every part of the train has been built in India, something that everyone should be proud of because we are no more dependent on other countries to get the best transportation system.
