Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked people with undeclared assets to come clean by 30th of September this year, and take benefit from the Income Declaration Scheme.<br/><br/>Speaking at a felicitation function organized for the Prime Minister by All India Gems and Jewelery Trade Federation on Saturday, Mr. Modi said it is a better alternative than living in fear of the government and Income Tax officers.<br/><br/>Saying that he wanted citizens to sleep peacefully, Mr Modi said he would not like to take action against people who do not declare assets till the last date of the scheme.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister asked the gems and jewelry industry to work towards establishing a global presence and to look beyond the domestic market.<br/><br/>He also called for innovation and skill development to achieve the objective. Mr. Modi noted that there is an increasing global demand for handmade jewellery.<br/><br/>Recalling the recent issues related to excise duty, the Prime Minister said these issues gave an opportunity for the gems and jewellery industry and the Government to better understand each other.
