Direct tax collection has gone up by 24 per cent to 1.59 lakh crore rupees during the April to July period of the current financial year. Finance Ministry in a release said, the collection up to July indicates that 18.82 per cent of the Annual Budget target of direct taxes has been achieved in the first four months of the current fiscal. Personal income tax collection grew 31.4 per cent while corporate taxes registered an increase of 11.65 per cent.
