<br/>The direct passenger rail services among the north-eastern states of Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram and Barak Valley of Assam and the rest of India have been suspended again today.<br/><br/>According to railway sources in Silchar, though the passenger trains on the 214 kilometre metre-gauge hill section of the Northeast Frontier Railway resumed services between Silchar and Lumding junction after a month long break on Friday morning, the movement of passenger trains on this section has been suspended again from today until further orders.<br/><br/>Train services on this 106-year-old section was stalled for an indefinite period from June 15 when a 3 km stretch of the track was damaged after mounds of soil and rocks cascaded down from the hills adjoining the railway lines following torrential rain. However, Goods trains on this section have resumed services on 10th of this month after the track was repaired.<br/><br/>This metre gauge track is the sole rail link for people in the three districts of Barak Valley of Assam, Tripura and Mizoram with the rest of the coutry.
