<br/>Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar today said that all untrained teachers are to be trained by March, 2019. <br/><br/>He said this while launching the programme Diploma in Elementary Education for in-service untrained elementary teachers in New Delhi. <br/><br/>The programme has been developed by National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and specifically designed for untrained teachers working in primary and upper primary schools of different states of the country. <br/><br/>The minimum qualification required for admission in the programme for is 50 per cent marks in aggregate at Senior Secondary (Class12th). <br/><br/>Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and Divyangs category will be given relaxation of 5 per cent in passing marks. <br/><br/>Mr Javadekar said, this will be a last opportunity for such candidates who have not done the teacher training courses. He said, 15 lakhs untrained teachers have registered with NIOS for this programme. <br/><br/>The Minister said, teachers and quality education are the rights of the students. <br/><br/>Mr Javadekar said, the programme aims to empower teachers to improve quality of classroom processes and to make teaching and learning more effective. <br/><br/>Parliament has earlier passed the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Amendment) Bill to extend the deadline to December 2019 for untrained teachers to get qualified.
