Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has that the number of beneficiaries under the Janani Surakha Yojana (JSY) has gone up to 108.69 lakhs in 2011-12 from 7.39 lakh beneficiaries in 2005-06.

Replying to questions in the Lok sabha the Health Minister said that the Maternal Mortality Rate has declined from 254 maternal deaths per 1 lakh live births during 2007-09.

He said, the Neo Natal Morality Rate has also declined from 37 per 1000 live births in 2006 to 33 per 1000 live births in 2010.

He said, the Health ministry has also issued instructions to ensure flow of funds, setting up of grievance redressal cells, public display of names of JSY beneficiaries and their verification etc.
