The Centre has released grant of 29 crore rupees for Jharkhand and 28 crore rupees for Gujarat to provide safe drinking water facilities to rural habitations and schools under Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission during 2009-10. As per the provisions, the State Governments will follow the priorities set in the guidelines. The Mission, a component of Bharat Nirman, is one of the flagship program of Government of India with the objective to provide safe drinking water to all households in rural areas.
