National General Secretary and senior Congress leader Mr. Digvijay Singh has stressed on the need for speedy trial in the Batla House encounter in Delhi case. After visiting Azamgarh and meeting family members of some of the youths arrested in connection with the encounter of 2008 he said to media persons that most of those arrested or absconding following encounter came from poor families they cannot afford lengthy litigation process.<br/><br/>He has said that he will request the Prime Minister that the trial of the case be held in a designated court. Most people named in the case come from poor families and some of them have up to 55 cases against them.<br/><br/>Reacting to BJP's criticism of his Azamgarh visit, Singh said that communalists like BJP and Ulema Council have condemned his tour as they do not wish to go deep into the phenomenon of terrorism.
