Digital transaction is for nation's development, said Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Nirmala Seetharaman. Speaking at inauguration of Digi Dhan Mela in Puducherry the Minister said digital payments will bring in transparency in financial transactions. <br/><br/>As of now 90 percent of all transactions are cash based. We could not track these transactions or tax them. Only 55 lakh people pay taxes in the country. Digital transaction will help us enlarge the tax net. Bringing more people into tax net will increase the revenue of every state and the country, she said. This will in turn fuel the nation's development.<br/><br/>Union Minister for Pon Radhakrishnan said Prime Minister initially launched Jan Dhan Yojana for financial inclusion. Cashless transaction will futher empower them, he said. Chief Minister V Narayanasamy too participated in the programme said that cashless transactions are on the rise in the Union Territory with people getting acquainted with different modes of digital transaction.
