Digital media broadcasting to play critical role in sports broadcasting: Vijay Goel

The government is planning to establish an Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre and a national university for rehabilitation and disability studies. <br/><br/>This was informed by Social Justice Minister Thaawarchand Gehlot while speaking at the Rehabilitation International World Congress at Edinburgh in Scotland.<br/><br/>He said, the programmes should be proactive so that the persons with disabilities can integrate with the mainstream having financial, educational and skill-based support. <br/><br/>He said, India remains committed to building an enabling environment for Divyangjan in all possible ways.

Sports Minister Vijay Goel has said that digital media broadcasting will play a critical role in bringing about change in sports broadcasting in India. <br/><br/>Addressing the Big Picture Summit 2016 in New Delhi today, Mr Goel said increasing penetration of internet, mobile devices and cheaper data services especially in rural areas will prove game changer in this direction. He said Broadcasters must focus on how sports are delivered to these audiences.<br/><br/>The Minister said, data suggests that more than 60 per cent of the Digital Audiences in the country is within the age group of 13 to 35 years. He said, there is a need for Brands and Advertisers to come forward and recognize the power of Sports delivered to young India. <br/><br/>Mr Goel said, Centre is committed to work towards building up a culture of sports and improving the business of sports.
