Digi Dhan Mela held in Gurugram to promote cashless transactions

Digi Dhan Melas are being organised across the country to promote cashless transactions and one such mela was organised in the outskirts of the national capital in Gurugram yesterday. It was the first such fair in the country outside Delhi post-demonetisation. Addressing the gathering, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal said, banking accounts of more than 3,000 people were opened and about 7,000 persons were imparted training about digital payments during the mela. He said, people will find it convenient to make payments through various digital modes like Internet, E- Wallet, Credit and Debit Cards.Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Ananth Kumar said, transactions for purchase of fertilizers through dealers and retailers will become fully cashless in next two months.AIR correspondent reports that in the mela, lucky draw was held for deciding the winners who made payments through digital modes. 15,000 winners will get 1,000 rupees each and the amount will be transferred in their accounts digitally.The Centre had, on Sunday, launched the Lucky Grahak Yojana and Digi Dhan Vyapar Yojana awards to encourage people to adopt cashless mode of payments.
