Digi Dhan fair held at Gurugram to promote cashless economy

Digi Dhan Melas are being organised across the country to promote cashless transactions. One such mela was today organised on the outskirts of the national capital in Gurugram. This was the first such fair in the country outside Delhi post-demonetisation for educating masses on how to use mobile phones for making digital payments. Addressing the gathering, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal said, banking accounts of more than 3,000 persons were opened and about 7,000 persons were imparted training about digital payments during the mela. He said, people will find it convenient to make payments through various digital modes like internet, E- Wallet, Credit and Debit Cards.Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Ananth Kumar announced that transactions for purchase of fertilizers through dealers and retailers will become fully cashless in next two months. In the mela, lucky draw was held for deciding the winners who made payments through digital modes post-demonetisation. 15 thousand winners will get 1000 rupees each and the amount will be transferred in their accounts digitally. Yesterday, the Centre had launched the Lucky Grahak Yojana and Digi Dhan Vyapar Yojana awards to encourage people to adopt cashless mode of payments.
