Difference of opinion surfaces in BJP with PAC taking forward 2G probe

Difference of opinion has surfaced in the opposition BJP with Public Accounts Committee, PAC, taking forward the probe in the 2G allocation issue. The leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Ms. Sushma Swaraj has questioned the role of its senior party leader Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi who is heading the PAC. Ms. Swaraj says that the PAC cannot even call a Cabinet Minister and therefore Prime Minster's offer of appearance has no meaning. Dr. Joshi on the other hand maintains that the Parliamentary panel will not just look into the auditors report but can summon other investigating agencies to get to the bottom of 2G issue. BJP has been demanding a JPC probe into the issue while the government has rejected it.The Public Accounts Committee Chief on Monday said that the panel will take an appropriate decision to have interaction with the Prime Minister on the issue at an appropriate time. Earlier, the Prime Minister in a letter to the panel offered to appear before it in connection with 2G spectrum issue.
