Diesel price has been increased by one rupee and nine paise per litre excluding VAT. The new rate will come into force from midnight tonight. With this, now consumers will have to pay 56 rupees and 71 paise a litre in Delhi, 61 rupees and 38 paise in Kolkata, 65 rupees and 21 paise in Mumbai and 60 rupees and 50 paise in Chennai. In a statement, Indian Oil Corporation said, the diesel price was increased in view of government's earlier order authorizing Oil marketing companies to increase the retail selling price of diesel within a small range every month until further orders.
