Diesel has become dearer by 50 paise per litre excluding VAT. The new rates will come into effect from midnight tonight. In Delhi, it will cost 53 rupees 67 paise, in Kolkata 58 rupees 8 paise, in Mumbai 60 rupees 70 paise and Chennai 57 rupees 23 paise. According to a release by Indian Oil Co-Operation, even after the current revision under recovery on sale of diesel shall stand at 9 rupees 99 paise per litre.

The Oil marketing companies are authorized to increase retail selling price of diesel within a small range every month untill losses are wiped out. There is no change in the price of petrol.
