Dhanteras being celebrated with enthusiasm in Mumbai

Along with rest of the country, Dhanteras, considered as the most auspicious day in Hindu calendar, is being celebrated with enthusiasm in Mumbai and adjoining areas.  People in large number are witnessing market places for Diwali shopping. However, as per the instructions of the government and the health department, citizens are wearing masks. Gold prices as well as the stock market showed an upward trend.<br />'' <br />''AIR correspondent reports, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has appealed to Mumbaikars to show self-discipline and celebrate Diwali without firecrackers as pollution can affect COVID-19 patients. During the Lakshmi Pujan tomorrow only private premises are allowed to light mild firecrackers in a limited manner. However, citizens are advised to take necessary precautions and have been warned to avoid sanitizers while handling firecrackers. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray  also urged the people of the state to be cautious while celebrating the festival of Diwali. He said that he himself would be making use of social media to exchange Diwali greetings and appealed to people to take care of themselves during the festival to prevent Covid 19 infection. He said as far as possible people should make use of social media and emails to exchange greetings of Diwali.<br />'' <br />
