Dhanteras being celebrated today

<span style="color: #222222;">Dhanteras, the first day of Diwali is being celebrated today. In Mumbai too, the festival is being celebrated with much fanfare. This day is also celebrated as the birthday of Dhanvantari the god of medicines according to hindu mythology.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi, considered to be one of the auspicious day in Hindu calendar year is celebrated to seek blessings from the wealth of goddess Lakshmi, for the prosperous and wealthy year. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">On this day, purchase of gold, silver, automobiles and utensils are done by people. The Shubh Muhurat is from Six to eight in the evening and  people are expected to rush to the gold markets like Zaveri bajaar and other jewellery shops in the evening. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Although there was not much response in the bullion markets yesterday, the picture is expected to change due to dhanteras in the evening.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted the people on the occasion. In a tweet, Mr Modi hoped that the special day will enhance the spirit of peace and prosperity in society.</span>

Dhanteras being celebrated today

Dhanteras is being celebrated across the country today. It is celebrated two days before Diwali. Dhanteras is also known as Dhantryaodashi or Dhanwantri Triodasi. People purchase precious metals on this day with a belief that they will bring prosperity. Besides Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains also celebrate this festival on a large scale.
