India and Bangladesh are working on Extradition Treaty and the discussions to this effect are going on. This was stated by Bangladesh Prime Minister Mrs. Sheikh Hasina while talking to reporters in New Delhi today. She said that three pacts to combat terrorism and organised crime have already been signed and her government will go to any extent in cooperating with India to deal with the menace. The pacts signed are Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, Agreement on Transfer of Sentenced Persons and Agreement on Combating International Terrorism, Organised Crime and Illicit Drug Trafficking. Winding up her three-day successful visit to India, Ms. Hasina said the two countries need to join hands against terrorism. The Bangla Prime Minister reiterated that Dhaka will not allow its soil to be used for any terrorist activity against India. To a specific question on whether Bangladesh would hand over ULFA leader Anup Chetia who is wanted in India, Ms Hasina evaded a direct reply, saying she was not here to discuss one name but broader issues.
