Police have arrested a Pir from Kurigram in connection with Monday's murder of Pir Farhad Hossain Chowdhury and his adopted daughter in Dinajpur. Police sources said Eshaq Ali, an ex-disciple of the murdered Pir was picked up from his house last night and handed over to Dinajopur police. <br/><br/>Pir Farhad and Rupali Begum were found dead at the former's Kanqah. While both were shot and hacked, Rupali's throat was found slit as well. Police suspect militants could be behind the murders but also do not rule out the possibility of conflict with ex-disciple Eshaq Ali over property or valuables. <br/><br/>According to locals though Pir Farhad preached a different version of prayer and rituals, he had no conflict with anyone. Pir Farhad was a former BNP member who quit politics in 2006-07 after losing in the municiapl elections, reportedly due to internal conflict, and set up the Kanqah where he had a following of over 600-700 disciples.
