DGCA suspends license of Kingfisher Airlines

The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has suspended the license of crisis hit Kingfisher Airlines. The civil aviation official said the reply given by the Kingfisher in response to the DGCA show cause notice was found to be not satisfactory.

The airline had yesterday replied to the show-cause notice issued by the DGCA, asking why the airline's licence should not be suspended or cancelled as it had grounded its entire fleet and failed to offer safe, efficient and reliable service following deadlock with the employees.

Kingfisher airline had also extended its lockout till 23rd of this month as the impasse with its employees over non-payment of salary dues continued.

Our correspondent reports, suspension of flying licence, would entail immediate halt to all bookings on the entire Kingfisher network as well as through travel agents.

In case of cancellation of the licence, the airline would have to start afresh, apply to the Civil Aviation ministry for a licence and complete the entire long-drawn official, legal and technical processes.
