DGCA: Kingfisher airlines cannot fly without paying salaries to staff

The Director general of civil aviation (DGCA), Arun Mishra has said that liqour baron Vijay Mallya-owned Kingfisher Airlines would be allowed to resume operations only after it starts paying salary arrears for around six months to its employees.

After meeting Kingfisher Airlines' CEO Sanjay Agarwal and executive vice-president Hitesh Patel, Mr. Mishra told reporters that DGCA has asked the airlines to come with an operational preparedness plan to resume flights. He however said that it will be cleared only when the airline assures that the salaries are paid off and it has to be a regular payment.
Meanwhile, the Kingfisher airlines said that the due salary of employees will be cleared within the next few days but a decision on restarting operations will only be taken on Thursday.
