The Defence Food Research Laboratory in Mysuru has developed a de-hydrated idly-sambar-chutney combo for our soldiers guarding our borders. The Food lab specializes in developing food that has long shelf life, that is stable under all weather conditions but also delivers adequate nutrition and energy to keep the morale of our Service personnel high at all times. <br/><br/>Public Relations Officer of the Defence lab Dr. Mallesh told AIR on the sidelines of National Science Congress in Mysuru today that this is for the first time that a south Indian snack is developed for the armed forces personnel. <br/><br/>He also informed that the lab has developed a milk testing kit that can detect eight kinds of adulterations such as blend of urea, starch and detergent in milk. The technology is transferred to a private industry in Mumbai which has in return paid a royalty of one crore rupees to the lab.
