Devotees took holy dip on Mauni Amavasya

In Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh people took bath in rivers and canals today and spent time watching rare celestial treat. In Haryana, more than 12 lakh devotees including locals took a dip in the holy Sannehit and Brahm sarovars on the eve of largest Solar eclipse of the millennium at Kurukshetra, which coincided with Mauni Amavasya.<br/><br/>Chief Minister Bhupender Singh Hooda, Governor Jagannath Pahadia and MP Naveen Jindal were among the VIP`S , who took holy bath at Kurukshetra. Governor, her wife Shanti Devi and Chief Minister distributed Blankets to the needy and poor people on this occasion. Solar eclipse was seen from 11.55 to 3.08 PM at Kurukshetra and at 1.39 PM, when eclipse was around 49 percent devotees spent their time while chanting Mantras and Bhajans. Devotees also performed Surya Upasana on this occasion.<br/><br/>In Haridwar, about seven lakh devotees took holy dip on the auspicious mauni amavasya and solar eclipse today. Amidst tight security arrangement, devotees perform rituals at 1621 hours.
