Devotees throng to Shiv temples on first Monday of Shrawan month today

In Uttar Pradesh, a large number of devotees are arriving at Kashi Vishwannath temple and bathing ghats in Varanasi on the occasion of first Monday of Shravan month. Jalabhishek of Lord Vishwanath began early in the morning. Large number of kawarias and devotees reached Varanasi last evening to perform Jalabhishek at Vishwanath temple. Adequate security and administrative arrangements have been made. According to police, since the water level of Ganga is risen in Varanasi, the bathing area is restricted for pilgrims to avoid any untoward incident. Extra security personal have deployed at temples, bathing Ghats and other places. In Allahabad too, devotees are worshipping lord Shiva in various temples and are taking dip in Ganga at various ghats. The Kawarias, who began their journey last week from Allahabad to Varanasi for “Jalabhishek”, are arriving in the city for worshipping in various temples of Lord Shiva includining Padila Mahadev and Nagvasuki temples. In Jharkhand, the world famous Lord Baidyanath Dham temple of Deoghar is one of the 12 reverred Jyotirling of Lord Shiva where lakhs of devotees are offering water from holy Ganga in the ongoing month of Shravan. The State Government has made necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the journey of 'Kanwars'.
