Devotees take holy dip at Sangam on Mauni Amavasya

Amawasya bathing continues at Sangam and other ghats in Allahabad. Bathing began very early this morning as thousands of devotees had reached Sangam area yesterday. The Magh Mela officer told AIR that more than 40 lakh people had taken the holy dip in Sangam until 10 am. There are no reports of any untoward incident from the Magh Mela area. Today's Mauni Amawasya is also coinciding with Somwati Amawasya which makes today's bathing more significant for pilgrims.<br/>According to the reports, bathing is taking place in other places as well. In Varanasi, large number of devotees are reaching Rajendra Prasad Ghat, Dashaswamedh Ghat for holy bath and traditional worships. Thousands of people reached Chitrakoot Dham for Somwati Amawasya traditional worship and bathing at Mandakani River. In Ayodhya pilgrims are taking dip in Saryu river and offering prayers.

Holy dip in the Sangam and other ghats of the river Ganga began early morning today on the auspicious day of Mauni Amavasya. According to magh mela control room, bathing is underway smoothly at sangam and other ghats at Allahabad. It said, about 25 lakh people took holy bath till 6.30 am. Pilgrims of all age groups are continuously reaching at Sangam area. Magh mela administration has increased the numbers of bathing Ghats from 14 to 17 in and around the sangam area.<br/>Elaborate administrative and security arrangements have been made for Amawasya bathing. Beside regular police and PAC force, Para Military units, Anti terrorist Squad and Bomb Disposal Squad have been deployed in magh mela area. More than fifty CCTV cameras have been connected with magh mela control room. Our correspondent reports that 25 Ambulances have also been deployed to meet any eventuality.

Amid strict security, thousands of people have already gathered at Sangam area in Allahabad. Elaborate administrative and security arrangements have been made for Amawasya bathing. Beside regular police and PAC, Para Military units, Anti terrorist Squad and Bomb Disposal Squad have been deployed in Magh mela area. Water police is also on alert at bathing ghats. Police is also keeping vigil through CCTV cameras. 25 ambulances have also been deployed to meet any eventuality.

Devotees take holy dip at Sangam on Mauni Amavasya

In Uttar Pradesh, the most important bathing of Magh month, Mauni Amavasya, began at the Sangam in Allahabad early this morning.A large number of devotees have gathered at the Sangam and other Ghats of Ganga. Magh Mela Administration said, the bathing will continue till late in the evening.Elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure smooth conduct of bathing at the Sangam. Four teams of Cobra Commandos, two teams of Anti terrorist squad, five Anti sabotage groups and three bomb disposal teams have been deployed for the purpose.
