Devendra Fadnavis sworn-in as Chief Minister of Maharashtra

Devendra Fadnavis has been sworn in as the first BJP Chief Minister of Maharashtra along with nine Ministers on Friday.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

Maharashtra Governor, C Vidyasagar Rao administered the oath of office and secrecy to Fadnavis and his Cabinet in the shadow of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s image that was projected through a LED screen.

Apart from Fadnavis, seven Cabinet Ministers and two Ministers of state were also sworn-in.

included Messrs Eknath Khadse, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Vinod Tawde, Prakash Mehta, Chandrakant Patil, Pankaja Munde and Vishnu Sawra while Dilip Kamble and Vidya Thakur were sworn-in as Ministers of State.

The glittering swearing-in ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who had earlier referred Fadnavis as Nagpur’s gift to Maharashtra.
BJP Chief Amit Shah, party patriarch L.K. Advani, several Union Ministers and Chief Ministers of various states attended the ceremony.

Politicians across spectrum including BJP's erstwhile ally Shiv Sena's Chief Uddhav Thackeray, Congress leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, NCP leader Ajit Pawar, RPI(A) Chief Ramdas Athavale and BJP’s smaller alliance partners also attended the event.

Shiv Sena Chief decided to attend the ceremony after BJP President Amit Shah called him over phone and requested to attend the function.

Shiv Sena MP Vinayak Raut informed that Amit Shah also assured that positive decision will be taken on demands put forth by the Shiv Sena on government formation.
