Development without destruction is NDA govt's mantra: Javadekar

Environment and Forests Minister Prakash Javadekar has said that development without destruction is NDA Government's mantra. Addressing media on the completion of two years of Government in New Delhi today, Mr Javadekar said, Government's mandate is to maintain balance and to protect the five elements of Water, Air, Fire, Sky and Earth. He said, the process for approval has been standardized, decentralized and made transparent and fast. <br/><br/>He said, during the last two years forest cover in the country has increased. He said, the forest cover in the country is presently 21 per cent and the target is 33 per cent. He said, it is possible only through tree cover outside forest area. He also outlined about afforestation measures including CAMPA bill which will provide 42 thousand crore rupees to states. <br/><br/>He informed that mangroves have also increased by more than 100 square kilometres. He said, Ministry has taken various initiatives to protect wildlife and India leads tiger conservation with 70 per cent of tiger population in the world. Mr Javadekar said, Government has also revamped waste management rules and several measures taken to combat pollution. He said, India played a proactive and constructive leadership role in COP21 in Paris.
