Development & upliftment of farmers is 1st priority of govt: Radha Mohan Singh

Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh has said that development and upliftment of farmers is the first priority of the government. Inaugurating 3 day long Krishi Unnati Mela in New Delhi today, Mr Singh said, the government is aiming to double the income of farmers by 2022. <br/><br/>He said, it is essential to maintain fertility of the land for sustainable agriculture development. He said, Centre has brought Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana to safeguard the farmers from natural disaster like drought and flood. Mr Singh said, his Ministry has made arrangements for conducting whole sale market through e-platform, e-NAM so that the farmers can sell their products at reasonable price. <br/><br/>He said, to overcome the problem of drought, Prime Minister Krishi Sinchaee Yojana has been launched under which water is being provided to every farmland. He informed that India is self-sufficient in foodgrains and exporting foodgrains to the other countries. He said, India is number one in milk production in the world. He said, for Blue Revolution, a central budget of 3000 crore rupees has been earmarked for a period of five years. <br/><br/>He said, the number of Krishi Vigyan Kendras has been increased to 665 so that the farmers may adopt farm training in agriculture technique. On the occasion, the Minister presented Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Rashtriya Krishi Vigyan Protsahan Puraskar.
