Prime Minister Narendra Modi today assured the people of Kashmir that he would bring back the valley's lost glory that once beckoned people from all the corners of the world with its saffron and Dal Lake. Addressing an election rally at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Srinagar today amid tight security blanket and in the backdrop of recent terrorist attacks, Modi said that he has come to Srinagar to end the sufferings of the people. While promising to bring back development to the state, Modi said that the people of Kashmir have tried many ways but nothing has worked and now the only way left is the way of development.
BJP Leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir to vote the BJP to power in the state, saying the BJP alone could mitigate their sufferings. He said that he would continue to regularly visit Jammu and Kashmir to share the sufferings and pain of the people of the state. The Prime Minister said that the youth of the state need employment and development, which only BJP can give. Invoking Atal Behari Vajpayee , Modi said that he will carry forward Vajpayee's dreams for Kashmir. Referring to the recent devastating floods, the Prime Minister assured the people that he will try his best to help them come out from the tragedy.
Earlier, addressing an election meeting at Vijaypur, Samba he said the people of the state have created history by voting overwhelming in the ongoing elections. He said that entire country feels proud of the people of Jammu and Kashmir for showing the world that ballot was more powerful than bullet thereby strengthening the hands of democratic forces. After arriving in Srinagar, Prime Minister first visited the Army Headquarters in Srinagar and laid floral wreath at the war memorial as a tribute to the eight soldiers who laid down their lives while repulsing the militant attack in Uri.
AIR Correspondent reports that unprecedented security arrangements had been made in Srinagar for the visit of the Prime Minister and also for the third phase of polling scheduled to be held tomorrow in 16 Assembly segments spread across three districts of Baramulla, Badgam and Pulwama. In the third phase, fate of 138 candidates including that of J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah , three of his cabinet colleagues and 10 other sitting MLAs will be decided tomorrow.
