Development assistance is the cornerstone of India's "neighbourhood first" foreign policy.<br/><br/>In Sri Lanka, the development cooperation assistance is tailor-made to meet the immediate needs of the country.<br/><br/>This was stated by Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Mr Y K Sinha in an exclusive interview to All India Radio in Colombo on Thursday.<br/><br/>Speaking on the unique nature of Indian assistance to the island nation, Mr Sinha said that the focus of India has always been the need, dignity and satisfaction of the beneficiaries.<br/>He added that although the bulk of Indian projects are in the war ravaged, Tamil majority, north Sri Lanka, all the 9 provinces of the country are covered.
