In Assam, a devastating fire at Monachhera of Hailakandi district has gutted 29 shops on Wednesday evening. According to police, the fire broke out from one of the shop of the market due to electric short circuit. Fire tenders from nearby Hailakandi and Katlichhera have doused the fire after one and half hours of efforts. The fire has caused extensive destruction due to compact settlement. The amount of loss due to the fire is reported to be over 70 lakh rupees.
