Chief of Army Staff General Dalbir Singh Suhag has said that the attack on Uri camp in Baramulla district on Friday was a desperate attempt by militants to disrupt the democratic process in the Jammu and Kashmir.
General Suhag told reporters in Srinagar after reviewing the security situation following Friday's terror attacks that left eleven security force personnel dead .
The Army Chief paid tributes to martyrs who lost their lives while trying to foil the terror strikes.
According to Army Sources, General Suhag was briefed by the Northern Army commander about security situation in the state that was undergoing poll process.
The Army Chief has returned to capital where he is likely to brief the top political leadership about the latest security situation in the state.

He, however, assured the nation that these elements will not be allowed to succeed in disrupting the democratic process.

The Army Chief said that peaceful atmosphere in which the polls have been conducted in the first two phases has been due to the efforts put in by all the security forces.
