Environment Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan today said desertification can be tackled effectively with people's participation and cooperation at all levels. He was addressing a gathering while inaugurating Swarna Jayanti Nature Camp and launching of nature awareness and Aravalli conservation campaign near Gurugram in Haryana on the occasion of World Day to Combat Desertification. He said, modern science and technology and environment can come together to protect the nature.<br/><br/>He referred to devising of a solar tree by the scientists on an area of 4 square meter which generates five kilo watt of electricity. In this context, the Minister also highlighted the leading role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in forming the International Solar Alliance at the Conference of Parties at Paris in 2015. Dr Vardhan added that the government is committed to implement policies on solar energy. <br/><br/>The Minister said, the Centre will extend all possible support to any scheme formulated to realize the vision of enhancing the beauty of the Aravalli range. He reiterated that the people should concentrate on taking small steps to protect the environment.
