Dept of Posts starts UID registration facilities centres in Delhi

The Department of Posts, Delhi Circle has started registration facilities centres for Unique Identification Number, UID or Aadhaar in its 14 post offices in the national capital. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, the Chief Postmaster Genral Mrs. Rameshwari Handa said that these centres will help the people for enrolling themselves to get UID number. The facilities are currently available in Gole Dakhana, Parliament Street post office, Delhi GPO, Ashok Vihar post office and others. She said that the department will soon provide the facilities in 44 more post offices of the city. AIR correspondent reports that the Department has also taken initiative for opening of Savings bank account for about 2.5 lakh BPL households up to the end of this financial year. Under the first phase, 38000 BPL families will be covered by the end of next month. New Delhi GPO has also been conferred Sarvottam certification by Bureau of Indian Standards for the second time for its better services.
