Department of Posts join hands with UIDAI

Department of Posts has joined hands with Unique Identification Authority of India, UIDAI to provide Unique Identifiacation Number , Aadhaar to the people . A statement of Intent to this effect was signed between Department of Posts and UIDAI in presence of Union Minister of Communications and IT Mr Kapil Sibal and UIDAI Chairman Nandan Nilekani in New Delhi on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sibal said that this will help also provide people a facility of enrollment and updations in post offices. He said that more than 3700 post offices across the country have been identified for providing enrolment facility. Mr Sibal said that a facility of postal department set up at Kolkata earlier is expected to despatch one crore UID letters by the end of next month. He said that department is also expected to print and deliver around 12 crore UID letters in the next fiscal. Mr Sibal also launched a facility of parcel services through flate rate any where in the country.
