The Department of Heavy Industries has come out with draft national policy on capital goods. This is the first time that such a policy is being framed after active consultation with industry associations. In an official statement, the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises said the policy is focused on the most critical sector for achieving the vision of Make in India. It also said this Policy on Capital Goods is envisaged to unlock the potential for this promising sector and establish India as a global manufacturing hub. The draft policy is available on the ministry's website for public comments, views and suggestions from stakeholders. The comments on the draft policy can be submitted by 31st of this month.
