Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying celebrates World Veterinary Day

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying today celebrated World Veterinary Day in New Delhi to recognize and celebrate the important roles of Veterinarians in animal and human health and ecology. The theme of World Veterinary Day is Promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusiveness in the veterinary profession. Around one thousand 500 veterinary officials participated from the States and Union Territories and 75 veterinaries were honoured as outstanding veterinarians. &nbsp;<br />” <br />” <span style="color: #222222;">Speaking on the occasion, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister Parshottam Rupala highlighted the importance of India's livestock sector in the national economy. He emphasized that the aim of government is to make livestock farming more efficient and sustainable. Mr Rupala appreciated the participation of Veterinarians across the country in the event and the role of Veterinarians in the implementation of schemes and programs of the Department.&nbsp;<br />” <br />” World Veterinary Day is celebrated on the last Saturday in April annually, with an aim to raise awareness about veterinarians and their utmost devotion to animal health, welfare, and public health. World Veterinary Day also brings the global veterinary community together and helps them in getting the proper assistance.</span><br />” <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;<br />” The Day was first founded in the year 2000, by the initiative of the World Veterinary Association (WVA). Since then, every year it is celebrated with a different theme.</span><br />” <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;<br />”Veterinarians are the only doctors professionally trained to safeguard the health of both animals and the populace. They strive hard to address the health and safety needs of every single species of animal. They also play a crucial role in environmental protection, research, food safety, and public well-being.</span>
