Petroleum minister Murli Deora and Commerce minister Anand Sharma separately announced cash rewards for Indian medal winners in the Commonwealth Games. Mr Deora announced 10 lakh rupees for winners of gold medals, seven lakh fifty thousand rupees for silver medalists and 5 lakh rupees for bronze medal winners. The decision to this effect was taken at the Petroleum Sports promotion Board (PSPB) meeting. Nearly 50 sportspersons affiliated to the PSPB are representing India in the commonwealth games. Mr Sharma also announced seven lakh fifty thousand rupees for a gold medalist, five lakh rupees for a silver medalist and three lakh fifty thousand rupees for a bronze medal winner.
